Could You Be A Course Tutor?

The West Midlands is short of tutors to help train the next generation of coaches. We currently have one qualified tutor, and he could do with some support as we are increasing the number of courses each year.

If you can answer yes to most of these questions, you could become a coach tutor:

  1. Are you an experienced trampolining coach, with at least Club Coach and ideally Senior Club Coach qualification? (There is no need to have experience teaching in a competitive club or to a sky-high level; the course is about teaching safely and effectively upto somersaults)
  2. Do you keep uptodate with changes in the sport?
  3. Do you have occasional weekends free to run courses?
  4. Do you have experience of teaching adults, (you will teach all areas of the course, theory and practical)
  5. Are you willing to learn alternative methods to those you are used to?

To train as a tutor, you will attend coach courses, observing and helping small groups at first, then leading individual sessions until you eventually run an entire course. The whole training process takes a minimum of 16-20 days which are not paid, but travel expenses will be met.

Course tutoring is well paid and rewarding work done mainly at weekends. If you think you may be interested, you are welcome to visit (by arrangement) a course in the region to gain a better idea of what is involved, for this or if you have any other questions about training, contact Richard Ollerenshaw (richard@trampolining.net).

Applications to train as a course tutor should be made direct to the Regional Trampolining Course Organiser, Bob Burlton (33 Sandringham Drive, Aldridge, WS9 8HD; courses@wm.trampolining.net; 01922 455454), with a CV detailing your teaching and trampolining coaching experience.
